Green, Braswell earn A-10 Honors
49ers sophomore shooting guard Derrio Green was named A-10 co-Player of the Week for this week while Charlotte freshman Chris Braswell was named A-10 co-Rookie of the week.
Green averaged 27 points in two games this week, scoring 23 points in Charlotte's win over Mercer and a career-high 31 in bring Charlotte back from a huge second-half deficit against # 20 Georgia Tech. Green buried 10 3-pointers on the week, shooting .516 from the field and .455 from behind the arc. Against Mercer, Green added a career-high five rebounds, five assists and three steals.
Braswell, one of the top freshman in the A-10 this season, averaged 11.0 points and 12.5 rebounds this week in Charlotte's two games to earn his second Rookie of the Week award of the season. Braswell netted his fifth double-double of the season in the home win against Mercer with 14 points and 14 rebounds and also added eight points and 11 boards against Georgia Tech.
Green joins Shamari Spears as the only players to win the award for Charlotte this season, Spears won the award Nov. 28. The Rookie of the Week for Braswell marks the third time a 49er has won the award this season. Shamarr Bowden won the award for Nov. 14 and Braswell earned the honor for Dec. 5.
Charlotte travels to Tennessee to take on the Volunteers Wednesday night.
